Victims Services Funding Richmond Hill Allocation
Our government's one-time emergency payment of $2.7 million will provide new
resources to more than 50 community agencies across Ontario to help them
stay operational and accessible to victims during the public health crisis.
The Victim Services York offering services in Richmond Hill will receive
$55,000.00 as part of this one-time emergency payment in addition to its
annual funding allocation from the Ministry of the Attorney General.
Our government is committed to supporting victims of crime and standing up
against domestic violence. This emergency action to ensure victims of crime,
particularly those who are experiencing domestic violence, get the help they
need to stay safe and healthy during this time of a global pandemic.
Ontario Agricultural-Food Job Portal:
During this unprecedented period, Ontario’s agri-food sector needs to operate at full capacity to keep store shelves full and food on kitchen tables. From farm to fork, the agri-food business is labour intensive and dedicated hard working people are critical to keep the flow of goods and produce moving. To help match interested people with good quality jobs in the agri-food sector, the government has launched a new website at www.ontario.ca/agfoodjobs, which brings together in one location a variety of employment openings and training resources.
This online portal provides access to information on job opportunities in all parts of Ontario’s food supply chain – from grocery retailers to bakeries and cheese processing facilities to opportunities on farms. Working in the agri-food sector is a great way to contribute to your community and join the dedicated people who help feed the province.
Our food supply chain is one of the strongest in the world and our government wants to thank all of the heroes who work everyday to ensure individuals and families can access healthy and nutritious Ontario-produced foods.
Supports For Residential Service Providers (Child Welfare, Developmental Services, Violence Against Women):
The province is investing up to $40 million in the COVID-19 Residential Relief Fund to support organizations that provide residential services for children and youth, people with developmental disabilities and emergency shelters for women and families fleeing domestic violence. The fund will cover costs such as additional staffing, residential respite for caregivers; personal protective equipment and supplies; initiatives to support physical distancing and transportation to minimize client exposure. The ministry continues to actively work with stakeholders through this challenging time to see what other measures can be taken to support them.
