York Region Public Health to open additional COVID-19 vaccine appointments for residents age 80+
York Region residents can book online appointments beginning Monday, March 8, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.
Newmarket– To further support the immunization of York Region’s most vulnerable residents, York Region Public Health is opening a limited supply of approximately 3,000 appointments for COVID-19 vaccination for residents age 80+ (born 1941 or earlier).
York Region residents age 80+ can book an appointment beginning Monday, March 8, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. Appointments can be booked at york.ca/covid19Vaccine
The additional appointments will be for vaccinations at York Region Public Health vaccine clinics on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 and Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the following locations:
· Richmond Green Sports Centre located in the City of Richmond Hill
· Georgina Ice Palace located in the Town of Georgina
The process for these clinics requires two steps. Individuals booking appointments must first create an account and then book an appointment.
Residents age 80+ who are not comfortable booking an online appointment are encouraged to seek out a support person (caregiver, family member or friend) who can assist in booking this appointment on their behalf. Phone support for York Region Public Health clinics is available through the Access York contact centre at 1-877-464-9675.
Residents may be required to wait outside for a short period of time before their appointment, so it is important to properly prepare for your COVID-19 vaccinebefore visiting the clinic.
Vaccine supply remains limited. There are limited appointments available and we expect these appointments will be booked quickly. York Region will continue to publicly communicate new online booking opportunities through multiple communication channels, including york.ca, social media and our media and community partners.
We ask everyone for their patience as we work to provide vaccines as quickly as possible. COVID-19 vaccines will save lives and livelihoods; vaccine supply is increasing over the next weeks and months.
Walk-in appointments are not available; please do not visit a vaccination clinic without an appointment – you will be turned away.
