Storm Clean Up Update
Tree Cleanup on Public Property
Due to the extensive tree damage caused by the storm, cleanup and follow-up work is going to take some time. Inspections continue and work is ongoing to address damaged and hazardous trees, as well as debris cleanup.
In some situations, work may be done in multiple stages when follow-up work, such as debris removal, corrective pruning, trunk removal, stumping and/or tree replanting is required.
You can report fallen or damaged City trees on public property to Access Richmond Hill at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., by phone at 905-771-8800 or through our online customer service portal.
If you’ve already reported a downed or damaged tree on City property and follow-up work (noted above) is required, you do not need to submit a service request to the City. Staff will return to inspect and complete the work at a later date.
Private Property
Trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. Consider consulting an arborist to assess the condition of damaged trees.
Private Property Storm Debris Yard Waste Disposal
Curbside collection: Smaller limbs and branches can be placed on the boulevard (not the road) for collection on your yard waste collection day. Bundle branches, sticks and twigs with twine (maximum length 1.2m/4ft and no branches may be larger than 10 cm in diameter). Visit the Yard Waste page for full curbside collection guidelines.
Waste depot drop off: Until June 25, residents can drop off larger branches and debris for free at the Miller Bloomington Yard Waste Depot (1351 Bloomington Road East), McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre and Georgina Transfer Station. Accepted material includes branches (no larger than 30cm in diameter and 1.8m in length), flowers, plants, leaves and shrubs. Visit york.ca/wastedepots for details and hours.
