Councillor Castro Liu - Community Update - Richmond Hill Continues Gradual Reopening in Step 3
Dear Ward 3 Residents,
The province has announced that Ontario will move into Step Three of its three-step Roadmap to Reopen on Friday, July 16 at 12:01 a.m. As a result, residents should be aware of the following:
What’s currently open
- Parks, trails and outdoor amenities
- In-person Summer Camps, P.A.R.K Adventure Program, Tennis Lessons, outdoor fitness classes and Recreation Programs
- Summer Event Series including Drive-thru RibFest (July 23-25), Concerts in the Parking Lot (July-September) and Drive-In Movies (August/September)
- Virtual Summer Camps and Recreation Programs for all ages
- Waste bin online sales with home delivery
- Sports fields/courts for permits (league play)
- Richmond Hill Public Library with limited study space and computer use, access to browse shelves, in-branch holds pickup, and continued curbside pickup. Find out more at rhpl.ca/reopening
What’s opening in Step 3
- Centennial Pool reopens on Monday, July 26 for Aquatic Leadership Programs and recreational swimming. Registration for Aquatic Leadership is open and registration for recreational swimming begins July 23.
- Bayview Hill Pool reopens on July 26 for recreational swimming and Aquatic Leadership Programs. Aqua fitness classes begin August 3. Registration for Aquatic Leadership is open. Registration begins July 23 for recreational swimming and July 26 for aqua fitness.
- Bayview Hill Community Centre reopens on July 26 for drop-in recreation programs including badminton, table tennis and pickleball and in-person fitness classes. Registration for in-person fitness classes is open.
- Langstaff Community Centre reopens July 27 for drop-in recreation programs including badminton and table tennis.
- The Heritage Centre reopens July 29 for walking tours.
- Ed Sackfield twin ice pads reopen for permits on July 26.
- Tom Graham Arena reopens for permits on July 26.
- Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts reopens for Livestreaming on July 16. Open for rental permits with limited audience capacity on August 14.
- Photo permits for weddings, engagements and family photos available starting July 16.
- Outdoor picnic permits for up to 100 people available starting July 26.
Pre-registration is required and capacity limited for all recreation programs.
Until the main Municipal Offices and Operations Centre re-open to the public, residents can continue to access many City services online, by phone or by appointment.
