Canada-HK New Horizon Lions Club fundraising gala hold on Dec 9 2018
Canada-HK New Horizon Lions Club is entering our 11th year. Over the last 10years our total amount of funds raised has exceeded CAD $500,000. We have helped hospitals, Health and wellness organizations , community service groups , youth and cultural organizations . We have also organized and participated in cultural and educational events. Donations have been made to District A-16 and International Lions projects . We have been actively participating in charitable events organized by other Lions Clubs or service organizations in our community.
We have successfully achieved our club objectives as follows:
- to uphold spirit of The International Lions Club; our motto is “ We serve“
- to increase global vision and awareness towards international community services; to bridge between East and West
- to facilitate business/ professional networking; to acknowledge community-minded individuals, organizations or enterprises
- to promote university students’ activities and help young graduates venture into work field
- to encourage cultural interaction by supporting performing arts and entertainment
In 2018, our theme is “The Season of Festivities and good will ” We are very lucky to be enjoying all kinds of festivities in Canada and it’s high time we share our luck and joy with all those in need.
Our target is to empower members’ participation in service so as to achieve dignity, growth and success. Through service, we hope to enhance harmony within our community.
There are 5 major goals in community service this year:
1. donate to programs of health and wellness services or organization
2. support leadership training opportunities for young adults
3. collaborate with community service organizations
4. promote harmony among groups of various cultural backgrounds
5. work in partnership with various service and interest groups in the community.
Activities we host 2018-2019
- On December 9th Sunday we will host our annual Horizon Gala 2018 at Premiere Ballroom and Convention Centre The theme of the event is “ The Season of Festivities and Good Will “. Beneficiary of the event is the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation . Our Event co-chairs will give you more details ( please see attached sheet ).
- Our club has successfully hosted our annual Table Tennis Tournament in May 2018.
- We have founded a charity performance group “Horizon Angels “ to be serving the community with our members’ talents and hobbies.
