Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre celebrates $111,000 raised for Markham Stouffville Hospital
Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre (SMCC) proudly presented a cheque of $111,000 to support Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) during a special ceremony held on October 18, a date selected to mark the celebration of Navaratri.
The funds were raised through the SMCC Charity Walkathon, that took place on September 13. Approximately 300 participants, sponsors, and volunteers came together for a successful day of fundraising to advance patient care at MSH.
“We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together through the SMCC Charity Walkathon,” says Mahesh Chokshi, Event Chair, Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre Charity Walkathon. “This achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who contributed. It is a privilege to come together for such an important cause and give back to a hospital that means so much to our community.”
MSH serves one of the fastest growing and most culturally diverse regions in Canada, and the demand for care continues to grow. Government funding alone can’t cover all the hospital’s priority needs. Funds raised through community initiatives like the SMCC Charity Walkathon help provide leading-edge equipment and technology, while strengthening programs and services that respond to the needs of patients and families.
“We are honoured that Sanatan Mandir Cultural Centre chose MSH as the beneficiary of its Charity Walkathon for the first time this year,” says Allan Bell, Vice President, Community Relations & Corporate Partnerships, MSH Foundation. “Partnerships like this are vital to our hospital’s future. We thank SMCC for investing in our community’s health and well-being.”
