The Canada-HK New Horizon Lions Club the 10th Annual Charity Table Tennis Tournament
The Canada-HK New Horizon Lions Club would like to announce our 10th Annual Charity Table Tennis Tournament on May 18th, 19th, and June 1st, 2019 at My Table Tennis Club (MTTC) and Markham Wesley Centre has been completed in success. The 3 day tournament has raised $34,800 to 3 beneficiaries: Mon Sheong Foundation, Markham Wesley Centre, and Lions International Campaign 100.
The tournament had 19 categories to attract 91 teams and near 400 participants to join, even driving several hours from Ottawa and Haliburton! It continued to be a non-sanctioned event providing a platform to players of different levels, different ethnic groups, and different ages to communicate and build up friendship through competition.
A good example of no limit in age in table tennis is the final match of Wesley Membership category that Chevy Lui, 13 years old, challenged with Dick Mawk, 74 years old. Also in Evergreen category, David Quang, reaching 85 years old, had defeated many opponents one or two decades younger than him and became the champion!
We express our appreciation to Double Fish, an internationally recognized brand and one of the largest manufacturers of sports equipment in China, as the Title sponsor and Prize sponsor of $1700 cash prize to the winning teams in Premier Team category.
We thank My table Tennis Club as the Venue Sponsor and generously donating 4 annual memberships. We also acknowledge Markham Wesley Centre as another Venue Sponsor to support all the events in June 1st.
