Crime Awareness & Prevention Press Conference
Today, the “Crime Awareness & Prevention” press conference was held at the iTalkBB Canada Inc. office in Richmond Hill. York Regional Police (YRP) Superintendent Thai Truong - Commander of 2 District ( Richmond Hill area), Inspector Lindsay Newlove of 2 District ( Richmond Hill area), Inspector Alice Tsang of 3 District, Detective Sergeant Jason Jackson, Deputy Mayor of Richmond Hill Godwin Chan, York Regional Councillor Alan Ho, Co-Chair of York Regional Police Integrated Strategic Community Advisory Council (ISCAC) Dr. Aubrey Zidenberg joined the conference.
Organizer of the conference, Today Commercial News publisher, Mr. Herbert Moon welcomed the guests to join the conference. He stated that as a member of the ISCAC, the rise in break and enter cases in York region is concerning. Therefore, he organized this press conference to raise the awareness of community safety and prevention of crimes.
Ms. Penny Chiu, General Manager of iTalkBB Canada Inc., the conference’s exclusive sponsor said, “Life is good everywhere" is their mission statement, and to achieve that, our company focuses on delivering convenient telecommunication services to everyone in Canada.
Derek Luo of iTalkBB introduced the upgraded home security service “Aljia” which has the latest technology that allows users to monitor their home from anywhere using their smart phone. “Aljia” also has the E911 worldwide one-click function displays user’s home address at their local police call center. “Aljia” has a free app for users to monitor and the push notifications will notify users when the system identifies any activities in your area. Video history downloading is also available.
iTalkBB will provide the “Aljia” users uninterrupted 24/7 service and support. Service and support are provided in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese which is valuable for Chinese community services.
Dr. Aubrey Zidenberg said that the ISCAC is always looking at new ways to promote the community safety in York Region. YRP has introduced a new initiative called “Streetview” that encourages residents who have video home security system to register. The program will create a database that participants could provide security footages to the police for investigation when necessary.
The new Security Camera Registry gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed residential or commercial security cameras which may assist police if a crime occurs later in that area. Please go to: yrp.ca/registermycam for registration. When you register your cameras, officers can see who in the area may have captured footage and can ask them directly for help. In an investigation where every second counts, this proactive step could be crucial in helping to solve a case, make an arrest, recover property, or even save a life. Helpful details when registering include camera locations, direction, video retention times and the capability of sharing footage. The registry does not grant police direct access to your cameras--officers must still seek permission to view and use footage.
York Regional Police (YRP) Inspector Alice Tsang had shared a crime awareness and prevention presentation with the participants. An upward trend in break and enters across the region as daylight hours have grown shorter. In case of break and enter, residents should remain calm and report the incident to police right away by calling 911.
Both Deputy Mayor of Richmond Hill Godwin Chan and York Regional Councillor Alan Ho said that York region has a large population of Chinese descent. Community safety is one of the most concerned issues among them. They said that as the holiday and the Lunar New Year approaching, these are the period which criminals are most likely to target the public. They encourage residents to be vigilant and take measures to protect their homes.
“Our products and services are highly respected throughout Canada, enabling us to provide our customers with the highest quality service and safety.” Penny Chiu of iTalkBB Canada Inc. said.
Derek Luo announced that during the promotion period, iTalkBB will not only provide new customers 3 month of free “Aljia” service, but also have free camera of their choice. And the “Aljia” home security is a multiple device monitoring system with 30 days of cloud storage.
