Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Asian Heritage Month
The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Asian Heritage Month:
“This month, Canadians will come together to celebrate the rich heritage of Asian Canadians and the many ways in which they have profoundly shaped the history of our country.
“For generations, many Asians have bravely uprooted themselves from their homelands and embraced Canada as their new permanent home. Many fled oppressive regimes and sought to build a better life for themselves and their children here in our country. Upon their arrival, they brought a wealth of culture, traditions and customs that have enriched our communities and made our country a richer and more welcoming place for us all.
“Throughout their history, Asian Canadians have forged an incredible legacy of leadership and resilience. In times of injustice, they have maintained unwavering solidarity with their communities, and fought against barriers to equality. Their dedication and hard work have helped make Canada a land of liberty and prosperity for us all and for future generations.
“Today, the Asian community represents a cherished part of the Canadian family. From business to politics to medicine, these incredible people continue to play leading roles in our country’s success. Through their vibrant community events, ancient traditions, and diverse languages, they continue to generously share the beauty of their cultural heritage with all Canadians.
“As we join our friends in the Asian community in celebrating their incredible history, let us give thanks for all they’ve given to Canada over the years. On behalf of Canada’s Conservatives, happy Asian Heritage Month!”
