Ontario and Canada Partnering to Expand Highway 404 Through York Region
MARKHAM – York Region MPPs Michael Chan, Steven Del Duca, Dr. Helena Jaczek, Reza Moridi and Chris Ballard are pleased to announce that the federal and provincial governments are supporting the expansion of Highway 404 between Highway 407 and Stouffville Road.
The project consists of constructing high occupancy vehicle lanes in each direction that will widen the highway from six to eight lanes for an approximate length of 10.4 kilometres. The project will also include the construction of a new 171-vehicle carpool and transit lot in the southwest quadrant of Highway 404 and Major Mackenzie Drive, rehabilitation of two overpasses at Highway 7, widening of the 16th Ave. overpasses, and replacement of the Rouge River overpasses.
Once completed, this project will help reduce travel time and traffic congestion, and contribute to safer driving conditions for commuters along this key corridor.
Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges in the province’s history. To learn more about what’s happening in your community, go to Ontario.ca/BuildON.
