詹嘉禮聲明 - 反亞裔種族主義的興起

我最近獲悉，歧視加拿大亞裔群體的種族主義事件越來越多。

我被告知，有人被刺傷；有年輕夫婦被攻擊; 有老人因被大力推倒而受傷; 還有年輕人受到種族誹謗。

這些行為在任何地方都是不能接受的，更何況在加拿大。 我們的人民相信平等、正義和包容。 每次看到或聽到種族主義行為或言論時，我們每個人都應直言不諱地反擊。

新冠疫情讓我們所有人都感到焦慮，但我堅信，我們必須共同努力，促進團結。

我們必須

尊重我們的新移民社區；

接受我們的新移民社區;

慶祝我們的多元化；

並擁抱我們不同的文化和傳統。

我們都肩負著人類共同進步的責任。

Rise of Anti-Asian Racism

Statement by Jim Karygiannis

I have recently been made aware of the growing number of racist incidence being face by members of the Canadian Asian community.

I have been told incidents ranging from a man being stabbed; to a young couple being physically assaulted; to an elderly individual being pushed so had he fell and sustained an injury; to a young person being subjected to racial slurs.

These actions are not acceptable in anywhere, let alone in Canada. We are a people who believe in equality, justice and tolerance. It is up to each one of us to speak up every time we see or hear racist actions or speech.

COVID-19 is causing all of us to be anxious but I strongly believe that we must work together to promote togetherness.

We must:

Respect our newcomer communities.

Accept our newcomer communities;

Celebrate our diversity; and,

Embrace our different cultures and traditions.

We are all part of the human RACE.
