City of Toronto
·Mayor John Tory launched CaféTO, a quick-start program that will make it easier for restaurant and bar owners to open and expand patios to access additional space for physical distancing.
·CaféTO will allow businesses to establish options for café configurations within the right-of-way and in accordance with public health guidelines. This may include waiving regular permit and application fees in order to install the cafés. Additional details information will be available next week on toronto.ca/cafeto.
o Currently, restaurants and bars along with their patios remain closed. City staff are working in anticipation of these establishments re-opening.
Government of Ontario
·The Government of Ontario announced the Premier's Council on Equality of Opportunity, a new advisory group that will provide advice on how young people can overcome social and economic barriers and achieve success. The Council will also advise on long-term actions that can be taken to support youth during the COVID-19 outbreak.
o Those interested in joining the council are invited to apply to the Public Appointments Secretariat by Thursday, June 18, 2020. Eligible candidates should have expertise in areas such as community service, business, education, and government services such as youth justice and child welfare
o The Government of Ontario is further supporting Black communities to address the disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 by allocating $1.5 million in funding to organizations that support Black families and youth. This funding will be used to provide urgent COVID-19 supports and address the immediate needs of children, youth and families

·The Prime Minister announces a one time, tax free payment for seniors that will arrive the week of July 6th. The payment will be automatic through Old Age Security and Guaranteed Income Supplement. The payment for single seniors will be up to $900 and couples could get up to $1,500.
