I have received messages regarding the COVID-19 Assessment Centre at the Scarborough Hospital – Birchmount Site (Scarborough Grace). City of Toronto
· The following measures will take effect immediately for up to 12 weeks:
o All individuals with COVID-19 are ordered to stay home, under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, for 14 days.
o All individuals who have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19 are also ordered to stay home for 14 days.
· Anyone who is not ill or has not travelled, is strongly directed to stay home except for the following reasons:
o Accessing healthcare or medication;
o Shop for groceries once per week;
o Walk their dogs; and,
o Get daily exercise while maintaining physical distancing of at least two metres.
· Anyone over the age of 70 is strongly encouraged to stay home as much as possible
Province of Ontario
· The Ontario govt. announced a tentative agreement with AEFO teachers which includes lowering class sizes, enhanced special education supports and the protection of full-day kindergarten
· Those being charged with an offence under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act will be required to identify themselves if asked by a provincial offences officer which includes: police officers, First Nations constables, special constables and municipal by-law enforcement officers.
· Failing to correctly identify oneself carries a fine of $750 for failure to comply with an order made under EMCPA and a $1000 fine for obstructing any person in exercising power is a provincial offences officer issues a ticket
· Ontario govt. is launching a new $50 million Ontario Together Fund to help businesses provide innovative solutions or retool their operations in order to manufacture essential medical supplies and equipment - this new fund will support the proposals submitted by businesses and individuals through the web portal : https://www.ontario.ca/page/how-your-organization-can-help-fight-coronavirus?_ga=2.184275110.1655370987.1585576067-721918803.1551207427
o This fund will be available to companies and organizations across the province with the most viable, innovative proposals that can quickly provide critical goods and services like manufacturing gowns, coveralls, masks, face shields testing equipment and ventilators.
o The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade have worked closely with businesses to ramp up production of ventilators to meet the need in Ontario and other parts in Canada
· The government has recently placed an order with O-Two Medical Technologies who will produce 10,000 ventilators

· The Prime Minister reviewed the 3 point plan to help the economy:
o The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy: for big or small businesses that have seen a 30% decrease in gross revenues due to COVID19. This covers 75% of workers’ wages employers are responsible for the remaining 25%. Applications will open soon through the CRA.
o New loans are available for business owners who are worried about rent and other bills
o Canada Emergency Response Benefit: Application opens April 6th. If you are getting a wage subsidy from your employer, you are not eligible for this benefit. Apply online at Canada.ca, once signed up with direct deposit you may receive your money in 3-5 days. If you are unable to apply online, you may call Canada Revenue Agency for help (1-800-959-8281). If you have already applied for Employment Insurance you are automatically enrolled into CERB.
· Young people are not immune to serious symptoms- 10 per cent of COVID-19 cases involve people under 40 years old
· Federal government released a mobile app to stay updated on COVID19. It is called Canada COVID19 and is available for free from Canada.ca, Google and Apple app stores.
