Canada’s job numbers for September 2023
Canada’s job numbers for September 2023 were released today, showing Canada’s labour market gaining 64,000 jobs in September. Thanks to the effort and determination of Canadians from coast to coast to coast, our economy remains strong and we are growing the middle class.
Canada's economy remains robust, continuing with a low 5.5% unemployment rate and outpacing other G7 nations in economic growth over the past year. A significant milestone is the fact that one million more Canadians are actively employed today than at the outset of the pandemic, showcasing the resilience of the Canadian workforce and economy.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre persists in opposing our initiatives aimed at supporting the middle class, such as dental care for children and rent relief for seniors. Instead, he has imprudently advocated for Canadians to 'opt-out of inflation' by investing their life savings in a volatile cryptocurrency. In contrast, our government is dedicated to providing tangible assistance to Canadians in need, eschewing conspiracy theories in favor of delivering genuine results for the middle class and those striving to become a part of it.
